Basel 22-23 September 2010
The first Hellenic BioCluster mission to Switzerland took place in Lausanne and Basel on September 21-23,
2010. The aim of the mission was to link the dynamically emerging Greek biosciences with Swiss Life
Science companies in order to create new opportunities for partnerships and collaborations, business
development and investment.
During the 3-day mission the Hellenic BioCluster set the foundations for a strategic cooperation with
two of the largest, most dynamic and fastest growing European Biotechnology Clusters, the BioAlps cluster,
in Lausanne, and the BioValley cluster in Basel.
On Sept 21st, members of the Hellenic BioCluster visited BioAlps and the École Polytechnique Fédérale
de Lausanne (EPFL). During the meeting the Hellenic BioCluster presented the profiles and technologies
of its member-companies and discussed potential business cooperation opportunities with companies and
organizations in the region.
On Sept 22-23rd in Basel, the HBio delegation visited BioValley and participated in "BioValley Life
Sciences Week", a series of life sciences events, including a scientific conference, an investment
forum and a partnering event, which attracted a large number of participating companies, researchers
and investors. The HBio members (Biovista, Bionature, Nova Mechanica, Micrel, Medical Devices,
Jaymore Ltd, Medicon and Biomedcode) took part in over 30 meetings and had the opportunity to
explore business and research collaborations with leading Swiss pharmaceutical and biotech companies
including Roche, Debiopharm, Santhera Pharmaceuticals, Synosia Therapeutics, Pentapharm etc.
In addition, the Greek participants had the opportunity to learn about the latest developments in drug
discovery in Switzerland through the series of meetings, workshops and symposia of the
Miptec conference and through the
ILMAC exhibition.
The Hellenic BioCluster mission to Switzerland was organised by the Hellenic BioCluster and PRAXI /
HELP-FORWARD Network in collaboration with the BioAlps and BioValley. The mission is one of a series
