BioMedica Life Sciences is a Biotechnology Company with main activities:
- The commercialization and distribution of radiopharmaceutical products,
- The development of innovative molecules,
- The genetic and molecular screening and analysis.
BioMedica was founded in 1994 and is a leader in the radiopharmaceutical market in Greece.
The company focuses on innovation and has recently launched two new subsidiaries
- Biogenomica - A molecular screening excellence center
- Bio RP - A company active in the preparation, handling and promotion of innovative radio-pharmaceuticals.
BioRP was founded in cooperation with the biggest National Research Center NCSR "Demokritos".
BioMedica has an ambitious R&D program in collaboration with Greek Universities and Research Centers.
The target is the development of novel products, technologies and services with applications in Nuclear
Medicine (diagnostic and therapeutic applications), Pharmaceuticals and Cosmetics.
Since 2001, a strategic alliance has been formed between BioMedica Life Sciences and National Center for
Scientific Research (N.C.S.R) "Demokritos" for the production and development of peptide derivatives with
applications in Nuclear Medicine. BioMedica has research collaborations with the Institute of Radioisotopes
and Radiodiagnostic Products (I.R.R.P.) and the Institute of Biology (I.B.) of N.C.S.R. "Demokritos",
as well as with the Greek Pasteur Institute.
The company's research activities focus on
- Modified minigastrin analogues
- Modified peptide derivatives
- Development, production and commercialization of innovative retinoids with pharmaceutical and cosmetic applications
- Development of novel resins for solid phase peptide synthesis (S.P.P.S.)
BioMedica Life Sciences and BioRP in collaboration with the I.R.R.P. of N.C.S.R. "Demokritos" are setting up a Radioisotope
and Radiopharmaceutical Production Laboratory for the development of novel radiolabeled compounds for
clinical use.
The company's intention is to extend it's know how in the areas of Radiopharmaceutical Production,
Radiopharmacy and Radiochemistry and is interested in strategic partnerships in these areas.
